Minimum Requirements:

To excel in this role, you’ll need to meet the following minimum requirements:

  • A B.Com degree in Accounting or equivalent qualification.
  • Proficiency in SAP, with at least 1 year of experience (preferable).

Duties & Responsibilities:

As a Payroll Accountant at Vector Logistics, you’ll be responsible for a range of critical tasks, including:

  1. Payroll Reconciliations:
    • Reconciliation of Balance Sheet Provision Accounts.
    • Preparation of Balance Sheet Reconciliations and Manual Journal Entries.
    • Reconciliation of Monthly Payroll Postings to the General Ledger.
    • Reconciliation of Monthly Payroll Postings to Taxable Earnings.
  2. Annual Functions:
    • Completion of earnings returns and payments for COID within specified deadlines.
    • Assistance with the submission of IRP5 reconciliation to SARS.
    • Analysis of statements from medical aid service providers for post-retirement medical aid valuation.
  3. Payroll Integrity:
    • Detailed review of all aspects of allocated companies in line with audit principles.
    • Balancing salaries of employees on guaranteed packages.
    • Verification and sign-off on manual payments.
    • Review of extraordinary payments/schedules, such as bonuses and increases.
    • Ensuring compliance with Income Tax, UIF, and WCA regulations.
    • Conducting adhoc audits to ensure payment compliance with company policies.
  4. Third Party Payment Reconciliation:
    • Monthly submission of EMP201’s for the group.
    • Ensuring correctness and completeness of third party payments.
    • Investigating discrepancies and variances, implementing risk minimization procedures.
  5. Post-Retirement Medical Aid (PRMA):
    • Administration of PRMA, including liaison with service providers.
    • Maintenance of up-to-date schedules of eligible members for PRMA valuation.
    • Communication with pensioners when necessary.
  6. Audit Services:
    • Facilitation of interface between group payroll and internal/external audit.
    • Ensuring successful audit completion.
  7. Payroll Services:
    • Implementation of solutions to finance matters.
    • Analysis of payroll reports and records, making process improvement recommendations.
    • Estimation of departmental cash flow requirements and submission of projections.
    • Preparation of monthly payroll comparison reports and explanation of variances.
    • Application for tax directives and computation/review of ETI calculations.
  8. Administration of Agency Appointments by SARS:
    • Monthly reconciliation.
    • Administration of one@syfile.
    • Management of payment reference numbers on profile for accuracy and compliance.
